Termas de Papallacta is a hot springs spa, resort & convention center nestled in a majestic valley of the high Andes only 40 miles (67 kilometers) east of Quito, Ecuador’s capital city, just one hour distance, on the way to Baeza following the Interoceanic road.

Our resort is located on the “Cinnamon Trail”, the same route that the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana took in 1542 when he crossed the Andean mountain range searching for gold and other treasures, and which unexpectedly led him to discover the Amazon River.

Papallacta is the doorway to the Ecuadorian Amazon region, despite being in the Ecuadorian Highlands at an altitude of 10.827 feet (3.300 meters) above sea level and of an average daytime temperature of 14°C (57°F).

THERMAL WATERS
Papallacta´s thermal waters are very rich due to their privileged location between Cayambe and Antisana, two majestic volcanoes of the Andes.  Thus, the thermal waters feeding the Papallacta springs originate from deep geological layers through fissures towards the surface, carrying their potential for health, and provoking admiration from both nationals and foreign visitors. The temperature of the pools fluctuates between 38°and 40° C (99° and 104°F).

PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SPRINGS
– Sulfates, chlorides, calcium and sodium, plus trace elements of magnesium.
– Odorless, colorless, with a slight salty taste
