The valley where Polylepis Lodge is situated is formed during the quaternary age (pleistocene),between 2 and 4 million years ago. Polylepis Lodge has beautiful and comfortable rustic huts for up to 8 people with private bathroom, hot water and a fireplace, located in the middle of a millenary Polylepis primary forest. Higher on the surrounding hills there are lots of frailejones, a typical plant of the paramo which is found only in the north of Ecuador. Polylepis is a unique lodge and a perfect eco-destination for various soft adventures.
There is no electricity in this lodge but it has a working generator; Hiking tours can be done from the Lodge within El Angel Reserve and the Imbabura Province.
