El Monte Lodge

The El Monte Sustainable Lodge is located in the Ecuadorian Cloud Forest, up the path from the butterfly farm in Mindo. The lodge is then reached by crossing a rushing river. The cabanas of El Monte are situated alongside the crystalline Rio Mindo.

The private cabanas are spacious and comfortable and are equipped with comfortable bathrooms with a full size tub and unlimited hot water, flush toilets, an independet waste treatment system that is comprised of an enclosed sand bed with bamboo growing inside to remove nitrogenous buildup and separate areas for socializing and sleeping. Main house inlcudes kitchen (all open), dining table, game area, bar and two open fire pits. Activities: birdwatching, nature walks, white-water tubing, waterfalls, swimming, Orchid gardens, butterfly farms, mountainbiking, horseback riding, cock-of-the-rock lek and canopy cable car. Opened up the Mindo Biological Station (MBS) for researchers, student groups, and ecologically focused tourists. Organic garden. Conservation activism locally and nationally.
