Liana Lodge is located on the beautiful shores of the Arajuno river, a relatively quiet stream, which flows into the impressive Napo river. The lodge can be reached by private car or bus from Quito to Puerto Barantilla in about 6 or 7 hours, where a canoe will be waiting to bring you within 15 minutes to the Liana Lodge. (Napo Province).

Facilities:
All of our cabins are made out of local materials. You will be surprised how comfortable they are. They are built on stilts and are mainly made out of bamboo with traditional palm thatched roofs, creating a lovely flair. The huts are divided in 2 double rooms with private bathroom, hot water and a balcony with hammock. Social area with bar-restaurant, fire place and hammocks. No electricity but romantic candle-light.

General info:
The lodge is located in the private reserve Selva Vida (Living Jungle) which houses 1000 hectares of magnificent primary rainforest. Thanks to the animal rescue center AmaZOOnico you have a good chance to spot wildlife. The rooms are very comfortable and this small lodge offers you peace and privacy as well as a great Amazon experience. The meals served in the restaurant are from an excellent quality.

LODGE ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS:
During each program, passengers can choose from several activities during their stay at Liana Lodge, which are defined on the Lodge with your Guide:

AmazOOnico Rescue Center:
Visit of the rescue center for animals which is situated at 30 minute walk from Liana Lodge. (it’s possible to go by canoe as well). The team of volunteers will show you the selva’s animals : monkeys, parrots, ocelots… Most of the animals live free, however, some of them are kept in cages for their own security. After the tour, you will have the opportunity to go to the bar and the small shop which presents the kichwa’s artisanal work.

The Mirador Hike:
Discover the jungle by walking to the Mirador (overlook), where you will have wonderfull views over Anaconda Island and the village of Ahuano. On the way, your guide will tell you about the fauna and flora of the Jungle. Then, continue to Amazoonico Center (possibility to visit the animals rescue center). From here, you can return to the Lodge by canoe, by foot or by river tubbing.

Rodriguez River:
One day tour: walk through the jungle to the Mirador (see above) where you can enjoy a small break and refreshing drinks. Discovering the protected area of Selva Viva, you arrive at the Rio Rodriguez where you can relax by enjoying your meal served in leaves of platanillos and taking a bath. All over the day, the kichwa guide shares his knowledge about the flora and fauna with you. He explains to you which plants are used by the kichwas for medicine and which one for roof construction, blowguns and so on. Concerning the fauna, you will have the opportunity to observe an interesting variety of insects (butterfly, ants, termite) and maybe amphibias. However, the chances that you see bigger mamals are small because usually they are night-active or very discreet. Afterwards, return to Liana Lodge by canoe or river tubbing.

Gold Panning:
By canoe, you will reach a beach of black sand. Over there, the guide will show you how to pan for gold by the river shore; you will have the opportunity to try it yourself! With a bit a luck, you will find gold!

Ceibo Jungle Hike:
On the walk from Runa Huasi to Amazoonico, the guide shows you the astonishing insectes and the flora of the Jungle. On the way you will meet the giant Ceibo three, and its impressive buttress roots. one of the biggest in the entire Amazon Jugle!
